A drone flew a wounded soldier 62 km. Eka printed $150M for hands.

behindrobotics chart: Agility vs China robot listings

The Week in Behind Robotics, 2026-W43 (19–25 Oct 2026)

Intro

A wounded Ukrainian soldier left his position by air, not by road. Gurzuf Defence's Ayudag-6 hexacopter flew him 62 km after a ground robot was destroyed on the way in: the first widely verified drone medevac, and not another funding deck.

The same week, Japan's Level 4 drone and Level 4 automated-driving rules finally landed in our regulation queue (our live table still showed zero Japan rows). Shenzhen's Yinghe Robotics held its first creditors' meeting after raising more than RMB 600M, on the same calendar as Astribot's RMB 15B re-rate. And force-aware hands printed money: Eka Robotics closed US$150M at a US$1.45B valuation.

Start with our own week.

This week on behindrobotics

1) Agility's $2.5B IPO vs China's robot listings

Agility asks $2.5B pre-money at the 2 Nov Churchill Capital XI vote (ticker AGLT). Unitree listed at $9.1B and trades near $30B; Geek+ fell from $2.8B to $1.0B. We ranked what public markets actually pay for robots.

2) China still builds more of America's serious drones, and DJI's grip is slipping

From the FAA register (Oct 20 file): 19,351 tail-numbered drones, Chinese makers 9,322 vs US 9,058. DJI leads with 6,986. DJI's share of new crop-sprayer registrations fell from 51% in 2025 to 42% so far in 2026, after the FCC added it to the Covered List on 22 Dec 2025.

3) Germany's humanoid got dressed. The Gen 4 datasheet didn't.

NEURA unveiled 4NE1 Gen 4 in Munich with a textile skin and a TUM data gym, but no Gen 4 datasheet. June's sheet still says 80 kg; ~64 kg is our calculation from the "20% lighter" claim, which is the company's.

4) Robot dogs, ranked

We scored 15 quadrupeds on published specs only. Genisom M1 is #1 at 83; Boston Dynamics Spot is #12 at 28. ANYmal X ranks #8 but is the only Zone 1 ATEX/IECEx-certified robot in the set. Disclosure: 5 of the 15 robots are Genisom models, and the scoring is behindrobotics' own method on published specs, not independent testing.

5) Elbit buys ISE's underwater fleet know-how

Elbit Systems closed its acquisition of Canada's ISE on 20 Oct, a 50-year AUV and ROV maker that claims 250+ vehicles delivered to 20+ countries since 1974. Price undisclosed ("not material"). Our chart compares ISE's fleet with Teledyne's Slocum (1,300+), HII's REMUS (750+), L3Harris's Iver (350+) and Kongsberg's HUGIN (100+).

6) Munich holds 8 of Germany's 13 mapped defense-tech startups

They account for about €4.4bn of the ~€5.2bn raised in announced rounds (about 85%, our calculation). Full map and ranking, with caveats.

Number of the week

US$150M at US$1.45B: Eka Robotics' Series A, announced 20 Oct 2026, led by a16z and F-Prime.

It is the largest clean in-window equity print this week. Eka sells a vision-force-action (VFA) manipulation stack and claims about 1,500 picks per hour. Our database tracks about $82.1B across 441 rounds.

Profile coming (Eka is not yet on our live database) · confirmed (company PR + a16z); the pick rate is a company claim.

Top stories

First drone medevac: Gurzuf's Ayudag-6 flies a wounded soldier 62 km

Ukrainian forces rigged a ~98 kg hexacopter with a winch after a ground robot was destroyed en route. The flight took about 1 h 14 min, and BBC Verify confirmed identities. The maker says air rescue is a last resort.

Why it matters: real use under fire, not a raise.

Japan already runs Level 4 drones and Level 4 driving. Our regs table had neither.

Three regulator rows are queued: UAS Level 4 BVLOS over inhabited areas (in force 5 Dec 2022), ≥100 g registration plus Remote ID (20 Jun 2022), and SAE Level 4 "specified automated operation" under the Road Traffic Act (1 Apr 2023).

Why it matters: this is the certification gate for every Japan go-to-market story, and we already track more than 50 Japanese companies.

Yinghe's first creditors' meeting, while Astribot re-rates to RMB 15B

Yinghe (盈合) held its first creditors' meeting on 19 Oct (Shenzhen Intermediate Court, case (2026)粤03破454号). No recovery totals have been disclosed. In the same stretch, Astribot raised about RMB 1B at RMB 15B post-money, its fourth raise in about six months.

Why it matters: last-cycle names liquidate while embodied leaders re-rate.

RGo Robotics winds down into Blue River (John Deere)

The Israeli navigation startup raised about $25M over roughly eight years and wound down around 20 Oct. It sold three perpetual licenses; Blue River took the main license and seven staff and is opening Israel R&D. The founder says the tech works but the market was smaller than the hype.

Why it matters: a failure story in the same week Eka printed $150M for hands.

Equity on this week's tape: US$922M across ten rows (about $0.9B). Only US$380M of that is dated 19–24 Oct (Eka, Reliable's equity, Dream Labs, Enact, FORT). US$150M at US$1.45B for a vision-force-action stack that claims superhuman pick rates with contact sensing. It is the week's clearest sign that hands matter more than another vision-language demo.

The scoreboard keeps capital, units and sites apart, so equity never mixes with debt and capacity never passes for shipped robots. Watch Eka once its profile lands, or Gurzuf for the use case that cut through the funding noise. Japan's Level 4 rules are queued for the regulation table, and Korea is next. Data updates land Wednesdays. Reply and tell us what we should dig into next week.
