1. Controller
The operator of behindrobotics.com is the controller of personal data processed through this site. Contact: contact@behindrobotics.com or the contact form (topic "Other").
2. Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit, the server automatically processes your IP address, date and time, page requested, referrer, browser and operating system. We need this to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, stable operation). Logs are deleted after 30 days at most. Vercel processes these logs as our hosting provider. A data processing agreement (DPA / AVV, Art. 28 GDPR) with Vercel is an account step for the operator and is not published on this page. Transfer to the USA: EU-US Data Privacy Framework where Vercel is certified, otherwise EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
3. Cookies and consent
Essential local storage (your cookie choice, key rh_cookie_consent) is needed under § 25(2) TDDDG / Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. YouTube videos load only after you consent or click a video: § 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Fonts are hosted on our own server. Market quotes are fetched by our server, so your browser does not contact Finnhub. Optional analytics load only after you accept. You can withdraw consent at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened.
4. Newsletter (Ghost)
If you subscribe to our free weekly newsletter, we process your email address and, optionally, your name to send it. Sign-up uses double opt-in: you get a confirmation link. Legal basis: consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can unsubscribe via the link in every email. We keep your data until you unsubscribe, then delete it within 30 days. We may keep a blocklist entry so you are not emailed again.
Provider: Ghost (Ghost(Pro) hosting). The postal address on Ghost's data processing agreement is not published here. Reach the operator at contact@behindrobotics.com or the contact form. Transfers outside the EU are based on Standard Contractual Clauses. Ghost may measure whether a newsletter email was opened or a link in it was clicked. This site has no switch for that measurement, so it is covered by the consent you give when you subscribe.
5. Contact form
We process your name, email, company (optional), topic and message to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contract enquiries) or Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in answering). We delete it once your enquiry is fully dealt with, unless we have to keep it longer by law.
6. Market data (Finnhub)
Live quotes come from Finnhub Inc., USA. Our server fetches the data and Finnhub does not receive your IP address or browser information from that request. Quotes on the site may be cached and delayed. Source: Finnhub. Quotes are shown on the site. They are not a public API and not a downloadable dataset.
7. YouTube videos
Videos are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com. They load only after you consent or click a video, since loading them sends data, including your IP, to Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC (USA). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Transfer: EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
8. Fonts
Fonts are hosted on our own server. No connection to Google Fonts is made.
9. Social links
Links to X, YouTube and LinkedIn are plain links. Nothing is sent to those platforms until you click one.
10. Database and editorial content
Our robotics database is a Behind Robotics compilation. It includes business information from public sources, such as names of company founders and executives, their roles and public statements. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and the journalistic exemption (Art. 85 GDPR and national press laws). To correct something, use our corrections page, contact@behindrobotics.com, or the contact form. Charts stay on the site. The site does not offer a public API or a downloadable dataset.
11. Your rights
You have the right to: access (Art. 15), rectification (16), erasure (17), restriction (18), data portability (20), and objection to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) (21). You can withdraw consent at any time (7(3)). Contact: contact@behindrobotics.com or the contact form.
12. Right to complain
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU member state where you live or work, or where the alleged infringement took place.
13. International transfers
The operator is based outside the EU/EEA, and our service providers are in the USA. Transfers rely on the bases named above (DPF, Standard Contractual Clauses, or consent). For data of EU visitors, the operator applies the GDPR standards in this policy.
14. Visitors in mainland China (PIPL)
For visitors in mainland China, we process personal information under the Personal Information Protection Law of the PRC. This policy names the controller contact, purposes, data types, retention, overseas recipients (Vercel, Ghost, and Google when you load a video; USA) and how to exercise your rights. Finnhub receives the quote request from our server, not your IP address. Where PIPL requires separate consent for overseas transfer, the consent banner and the newsletter sign-up ask for it.
15. No automated decisions, no data selling
We make no decisions about you by automated means, including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR). We do not sell personal data.
16. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16.
17. Changes
We update this policy when our data processing changes. The current version is always available here.
