About the data

Sources, update cadence, and what claimed means in the behindrobotics.com database.

behindrobotics.com publishes a compiled database of companies, robots, components, and regulations, plus separate editorial posts. This page describes how that database is labeled. It does not add figures that are not already in the database.

Sources

The database is Behind Robotics' own compilation. Records are drawn from company announcements, filings, exchange listings, market research, and credible reporting. Where a figure is disputed, the dispute is noted on the record rather than resolved by picking one number. A field with no source is left undisclosed instead of filled with a guess.

Editorial posts are published separately from the database. A news page is not a database row, and a database row is not an article. The news archive and the database can mention the same company without being the same record.

Update cadence

The scoreboard is updated every Wednesday with the database. That is the cadence stated on the scoreboard itself. Directory pages that show a "Data as of" line read that date from the database meta field. They do not invent a newer date between updates. News posts publish on their own schedule and are not held for the Wednesday database update.

What claimed means

The word is used in three places, and the three uses are not the same label.

Robot records. A robot whose confidence is claimed is company-stated and not confirmed. The profile says "Claimed, not confirmed." A data-update line for that robot appends "(claimed)" to the name. Capability notes inside a profile can also start with the tag CLAIMED. Some of those notes already say the date was not recorded. This page does not fill in a missing date.

Relationship edges. An edge is recorded only where a specific, sourced fact exists. confirmed means stated in a company record or filing. claimed means company-stated and unreviewed. inferred means derived from category fit. Inferred edges are not published as fact.

Scoreboard figures. The scoreboard legend reads Confirmed, Reported, and Lower bound +. Reported is the middle bucket on a scoreboard figure. It is not the same field as a robot record's confidence value of claimed.

Last verified

A company or robot profile shows a last-verified date only when that record already stores an as_of date. The date on the profile is that stored date. Profiles without as_of show no last-verified line. This page does not assign a date to a record that does not have one.

Corrections

Published corrections are listed on the corrections log. That log starts empty. To report a wrong figure, use the contact form. A message is a report, not itself a logged correction.
