On October 22, 2026, Germany’s NEURA Robotics unveiled 4NE1 Gen 4 at the opening of the TUM RoboGym near Munich Airport — wrapped in a black textile skin, billed as 20% lighter, and already training on the gym floor. What it did not publish: a Gen 4 datasheet, a price, or a delivery date. The only sheet still linked is June’s V7: 80 kg / 180 cm / 55 DoF.
- Clothes first, sheet later: Gen 4 gets a textile skin, slimmer body, Smart Limbs and Neuron AI onboard — all company claims. No Gen 4 mass, height, payload or DoF published as of Oct 24.
- Last published mass: June 5, 2026 datasheet V7 still lists 80 kg, 180 cm, 55 DoF, 20 kg arm payload, 5 km/h. Confirmed company PDF.
- ~64 kg = our calc: 80 × 0.8 from the “20% lighter” claim. Not a NEURA number.
- The real product may be the gym: TUM RoboGym >2,300 m² at LabCampus; ~€17M over 3 years (~€11M NEURA); partners from 10+ industries training since September; more gyms planned EU/US/China + RWTH Aachen.
- Laundry claim open: Neuron AI (Oct 14) promised an 11-minute fully autonomous laundry run at GTC Berlin. As of Oct 24: no run report, no uncut video, no intervention count.
- No price / no delivery: Series-production design is a company line — not a ship date.

Textile skin, series-production pitch — no new kg
NEURA’s October 22 press release pairs two headlines: the opening of the TUM RoboGym powered by NEURA, and the launch of 4NE1 Gen 4 (“For Anyone”). The hardware pitch is short and mostly qualitative. Gen 4 is slimmer, wears a black textile outer skin, is 20 percent lighter than its predecessor, adds Smart Limbs (limb-local reflexes), improved hands, and runs Neuron AI onboard. It is “designed for serial production” and already in operation at the RoboGym and NEURA’s own gyms. All of that is company language.
What is missing is the block buyers and engineers actually print: weight, height, DoF, payload, battery, speed. NEURA’s product page still points the “Download Datasheet” link at datasheet V7 dated June 5, 2026 — 80 kg, 180 cm, 55 DoF, 20 kg arm payload, 5 km/h. If the −20% claim applies to that 80 kg figure, the arithmetic lands near 64 kg. That is our calculation, not a NEURA number, and NEURA has not said which prior-gen figures carry over.
Same day on X: Gen 4 at GTC Berlin, Jensen Huang signature, Lugano next — social proof, not a datasheet.
A data factory near Munich Airport
The RoboGym is the clearer capital commitment. More than 2,300 m² at LabCampus near Munich Airport, built with TUM’s Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI). Partners put roughly €17 million over an initial three years; NEURA contributes about €11 million (robots, compute, staff). Companies from more than ten industries — automotive, pharma, packaging, logistics, agriculture, care — have been training workflows there since September, NEURA says. Capacity is “already in strong demand.” No customer names published.
Three data paths: real-world robot logs, human demos (suits, mocap, teleop), and simulation — skills shared through the Neuraverse. Munich is the first node of a planned EU/US/China network, plus RWTH Aachen. Gen 4 is the body NEURA wants collecting shop-floor experience for Neuron AI.
Eleven minutes promised — receipts missing
On October 14, NEURA’s Neuron AI announcement promised that 4NE1 would complete an eleven-minute laundry sequence at NVIDIA GTC Berlin (Oct 20–22) — sort, load washer, close/reopen, unload, move to dryer — “fully autonomous from start to finish,” without human intervention. Gen 4 appeared at GTC; the company streamed from the show. As of October 24, we still do not have a published run report, an uncut video of the full sequence, or an intervention count. roboticaguide (Oct 23) and Interesting Engineering flag the same gap.
Until those receipts exist, treat the laundry demo as a company claim.
Six sheets, one missing Gen 4
Peers who publish a mass: Digit 5 (Agility) 129 kg; Atlas Electric (Boston Dynamics) 90 kg; Unitree H2 ~70 kg; Fourier GR-2 ≈63 kg; Unitree H1 ~47 kg. NEURA’s last published number — June’s 80 kg — sits mid-pack, with Gen 4’s claimed cut still unsheeted. Figure and Walker omitted (no clear company mass used here).
Four signals after the clothes
- A Gen 4 datasheet with mass, height, DoF, payload and battery — not a −20% relative claim alone.
- A price and a delivery window for “series production.”
- A named RoboGym customer that moves a trained skill onto its own factory floor.
- An uncut laundry (or equivalent) run with intervention count — or an honest admission it needed help.
